The Dental Hospital is a striking wedge shaped building in Surry Hills.

'Brutal' styles from the 60s and 70s
They aren't widely appreciated it seems. An example was Civic Place in Chatswood, demolished in late 2008.

One of Sydney's first skyscrapers was the MLC building in North Sydney.


Slightly south of the CBD, fans of industrial architecture might admire parts of the TAFE Sydney Institute campus on Wattle Street in Ultimo.

A little further south, Alexandria also has many hard-working industrial buildings.

 

Canberra, Australian Capital Territory
Some of Australia's finest intact 20th century public buildings can be found in Canberra, the national capital. Two examples are the former Canberra High School and the Shine Dome, below.
