Architecture of Sydney

Surry Hills.

The theme of NSW History Week 2005 was Transform. Few parts of Sydney can have been so greatly transformed as Surry Hills, aptly described by historian Christopher Keating as "the city’s backyard". Roy Lumby led a great walk on Sunday, September 25, with many highlights along the way. These included Sharpies Golf House, Elizabeth House, the Droga Apartment, the Albion Street Children's Court, a building for Toohey's Limited, the Railway Institute Building, the Amalgamated Engineering Building, a somewhat architectural 1960s Dodge Phoenix, and the W.C. Penfold Building.
